Mama Mia…

So while on my vacation my sisters and my mother all hung out and took in a movie. My sister, Mel, well she ain’t the brightest and we know it but for some reason we listened to her on the movie choice this time. She chose Mama Mia and we all fell for it. We bought our tickets and headed for the concession stand. We have a tradition in our family…it ain’t the movies if we don’t buy food at the movie theaters even at their robbery prices. So we all got in line and ordered the whole shelf of food….hot dogs, buttered popcorn in those colorful movie bags/buckets, Icee’s, jumbo, juicy pickles and some candy. After we lugged all our food to our seats as the previews were racing across the screen, we settled near the top rows in the theater and began munching as we waited for the movie to start.

I knew this movie was a musicial and I wasn’t sure what possessed my sister to want to see it. Once, the movie began all my sisters with the exception of my mother as she is a product of the ABBA days and was bouncing and singing along to all the songs, wanted to leave and kill my sister, Mel. That included me….we even resorted to texting her threats even with her sitting right next to her as we were courteous enough to not disturb the others around us. She kept denying she didn’t know it was a musical. I swear we laughed and almost pee’d in our pants…well I know I did.

But we soon settled in and I think each of us enjoyed the movie and the laughter it brought my mom and sisters. I even on a couple of occassions was bouncing and dancing in my seat to the music of ABBA and thought it was such a fun movie.

Later as we all still poked fun at our sister it was so well worth it because we had so much fun, laughed and were sisters enjoying a great day at the movies.

I have to confess but won’t to my sisters, I think of the movie often and want to see it again. :) I even borrowed my sister’s ABBA CD of the soundtrack and love singing out loud with it. So if you want some fun, singing, dancing in your seat good time, take in Mama Mia!

27 Dresses

27-dresses.jpg

I recently rented and watched this movie and I just about went right out and bought me my own personal copy. Katherine Heigl plays Jane this lovely woman who is totally into weddings and marriage and all that it stands for. She as the title indicates has worn 27 bridesmaid/maid of honor dresses for many weddings. She is head over heels in love with her boss who soon falls for her younger sister. Jane runs into this writer who isn’t what she thought he was. The film is a pure delight and a feel good movie. My favorite scene is where Jane and Kevin played by James Marsden are at a bar and they break out and sing Benny and the Jets way off key and with lyrics they create as they go. It is a movie I could watch over and over.

The Bucket List Review

I recently saw “The Bucket List” starring Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson, and Sean Hayes. I mention Sean Hayes because he was so brillant and convincing in this roles as Cole’s (Jack N.) assistant. I enjoyed his role so much. I thought “WOW!” he is such a versatile actor because I am convinced when he is playing a straight role and when he is playing a gay role in those roles as I see him act them out. Brillant work. I would have loved to have seen more scenes with him in them because it made for such a comedy with him and Jack in the same scene.

I was so disappointed in the film for one reason only….I thought it was too short. Just when it was really going, it stopped abruptly and ended. I guess I enjoyed it so much I wanted to see more of it. :) It was definitely worth the loss of sleep being I had to watch it at night time while the little one slept.

Wall-E Review

I kept meaning to get around to giving my movie review on “Wall-E”. I have seen it twice and won’t lie I would like to see it again but am going to refrain and wait until it is on DVD. I took my daughter who is now in love with Wall-E but must compete with her mommy. J And her Aunt.   It is hard these days to find a movie where their isn’t something about it that maybe you don’t want your kids to see or hear. As Christians, it seems to be getting harder and harder. Even some of the alleged “kiddie” movies have enough innuendo to make them less than kiddie friendly.
With Wall-E it was purely kid friendly. I didn’t worry about closing her eyes or wondering if she understood some undertone in a statement. It was such a delight and Wall-E makes you just want to get out of your seat and hug him. The Pixar Studios/Disney did such a phenomenal job with this movie and it appears life like at times.
I would see this movie a hundred times.    Be Blessed,Me
